Ginza Maruyo, a traditional Japanese Izakaya.
Located in GINZA NINE, a complex filled with shopping, art galleries, and a wide variety of gourmet spots, “Ginza Maruyo” is a nostalgic izakaya (Japanese-style pub) that you’ll want to visit at the end of the day.
Among the three buildings, it sits in Building No.1, closest to Shimbashi Station. Facing a narrow alley beneath the elevated expressway, it has the atmosphere of a true hidden retreat for adults.
The slightly compact interior is lined with menu cards and bottles of alcohol, creating a lively yet cozy vibe. As you look up to decide what to enjoy, your eyes are drawn to the large iconic lantern.
The comforting aroma of homemade-style dishes fills the air.
Many regulars gather here nightly, drawn by the warm personality of the former bartender owner and his heartfelt cooking, creating a friendly and welcoming space where conversations flow naturally.
Despite being located in the Shimbashi–Ginza area, prices here are very reasonable.
The drink menu is extensive, including strong highballs (whisky soda), draft beer, various sours, shochu (Japanese distilled spirit), awamori (Okinawan spirit), sake, Japanese whisky, and wine.
There are also unique options such as vin chaud (hot wine), ume kombu wari (plum and kelp-infused drink), and hot sake, offering a wide variety of ways to enjoy your drinks.
Most drinks are available for under ¥1,000, making it a popular spot for pre-drinks or after-parties. It’s perfect for a quick one or two drinks with light food.
For those who do not drink alcohol, soft drinks are available from ¥400, so everyone can enjoy comfortably.
Classic snacks such as edamame-¥400 (tax included), chilled tomatoes, tako wasabi (octopus with wasabi), dried stingray fin-¥500(tax included), and a variety of small dishes are available. There are also hearty dishes such as grilled udon infused with rich broth-¥600(tax included), tamago kake gohan (rice with raw egg)-¥400(tax included), ochazuke (rice with tea broth)-¥500(tax included), and spam rice balls-¥600(tax included), all popular among regular customers.
The “Today’s Dish” special changes daily, allowing you to enjoy something new each time you visit.
The menu is updated daily on Instagram, so checking in advance is recommended.
GINZA NINE is located just a 2-minute walk from JR Shimbashi Station and an 8-minute walk from Ginza Station.
Among its three buildings, Building No.1 is closest to Shimbashi.
Under the elevated expressway, along a narrow alley lined with small shops, you will find the restaurant marked by a dark navy awning and a large lantern.
Despite its tucked-away location, the nostalgic izakaya (Japanese-style pub) atmosphere creates a lively and welcoming space.
The indoor area is compact and standing-only, while the main terrace seating accommodates up to 25 guests and allows smoking.
In winter, the terrace is enclosed with tents and equipped with heating, while in summer it becomes an open and breezy space. It is a popular spot to relax with friends while enjoying the seasonal atmosphere.
