Savor Japanese culture in a modern Japanese space while feeling the shifting of the four seasons

A five-minute walk from Shibuya Station, tucked away just off the lanes of Cat Street, stands Aoyama Sakura-an.
Set apart from the crowds, it is a Japanese restaurant where you dine in a spacious, hideaway-like space.

The “sakura” (cherry blossom) that serves as the restaurant’s symbol is often called an emblem of Japan.
Soba finished with a specially made dashi and an original blend of buckwheat flour milled carefully in-house; Tempura lightly finished to bring out the natural umami of carefully selected seasonal ingredients; Sushi shaped piece by piece with heartfelt care by the chef using the freshest seafood; and fine dishes made with seasonal ingredients — savoring them is like tasting Japan’s four seasons right at your table.

  • Exquisite sushi at the peak of freshness

  • Popular menu — limited to 15 servings a day, the “Sakura-an Set” 2,280 yen (incl. tax)

  • Sakura-an Course 13,000 yen (incl. tax)
Assorted seasonal appetizers, salad, four kinds of sashimi, four kinds of tempura
Simmered or grilled fish, five pieces of nigiri, a roll, a bowl of rice topped with sea urchin, crab, and salmon roe, chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard), soba, and a sweet

  • Sushi Course 9,500 yen (incl. tax)
Five kinds of seasonal appetizers, four kinds of tempura, nine pieces of nigiri
A bowl of rice topped with sea urchin, crab, and salmon roe, chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard), a roll, a soup, and a sweet

  • Fresh, vivid real wasabi from Azumino, Nagano
Added to sushi, its refreshing heat and rich aroma spread for an even deeper flavor

If you’re coming for lunch, we recommend the “Sakura-an Set” at 2,280 yen (incl. tax) — limited to 15 servings and bringing together sushi, tempura, and soba. With a rich variety of soba and sushi courses as well, it satisfies not just the stomach but the heart. Its appeal is high-quality Japanese food at an affordable price.

In the evening, you can leisurely enjoy sake and Japanese cuisine with sobamae※ as an accompaniment.
(※Sobamae is a refined Japanese food custom handed down since the Edo period, of enjoying sake and light nibbles before eating soba.)

For dinner, the “Sakura-an Course” at 13,000 yen (incl. tax) is our top recommendation. Since all of the chef’s nigiri sushi and sashimi use carefully selected ingredients, please take your time to savor flavors that prize freshness.

  • Soba to enjoy with each season

  • An assortment of bluefin tuna sashimi

  • An assortment of seasonal appetizers

  • Carefully chosen sake savored from a masu (a traditional wooden sake cup)

  • Tempura made with seasonal ingredients

Don’t miss the dishes that make the most of ingredients changing with each season, letting you feel the turning of the year.
Tempura and soba that showcase seasonal ingredients, along with a range of à la carte dishes, offer a dining experience unique to Japan.
With an abundant selection of drinks — from authentic sake and shochu to wine and fruit liqueurs — you can enjoy them alongside a course and spend a leisurely, grown-up luxury of time.

There is also a takeout menu of lavish sushi bento, chosen for the chef’s discerning eye and freshness, so with advance notice you can take a meal to go.
A children’s sushi bento set is another welcome touch.

  • Aoyama Sakura-an, tucked away in a quiet, hideaway-like spot

  • Counter seats where you can enjoy sushi casually

  • A private room where you can take your time with the food

  • Table seating that stays spacious even for larger groups

True to its name, Aoyama Sakura-an is beautifully welcomed each spring by the cherry tree that stands as its symbol in front of the shop.
The interior is a modern Japanese space in white tones, with a variety of seating — a spacious counter, tables, semi-private rooms, and a terrace. The whole floor can be reserved for parties of 15 to 20 or more, so you can enjoy soba, sushi, and more across many occasions, from everyday meals to anniversaries, business entertaining, and gatherings.

At the counter you can enjoy the live feel of watching the chef shape sushi right before you, while the terrace lets you dine together with your pet — another of its charms.

Do come and savor a refined, memorable Japanese dining experience with all five senses, in a calm atmosphere far from the bustle of the city.
