A Casual Wine Bar & Shop Where You Can Drink, Eat, and Buy
Just a three-minute walk from Higashi-Ginza Station, BRATT.GINZA is a casual wine bar and shop where you can enjoy wine in every way — drinking it, eating with it, and buying it.
Its appeal lies in the easygoing feel of being able to tilt a glass from midday, a full selection running to several hundred kinds of wine, and a weekly changing lineup of deli dishes chosen from restaurants in the surrounding area.
What symbolizes this shop is kakuuchi (drinking on the spot at a liquor shop), a style unique to Japan in which you open the drink you have just bought and enjoy it right there in the store.
If you cannot decide which one to choose, asking the staff for advice is well worth it. And of course, you can also take your bottle home without opening it.
You can also use the place simply as a bar, enjoying wine by the glass or a craft beer without buying a bottle.
It is a shop that lets you enjoy wine far more freely.
While sightseeing or shopping in Ginza, why not make a casual stop here and enjoy authentic wine and deli dishes at your leisure?
Wine by the glass starts at around 1,000 to 1,500 yen, making it ideal when you simply want a quick drink. Orders are placed by QR code (the menu is also available in English, Chinese, and Korean), so you can enjoy it easily and at your own pace.
The range is wonderfully varied: full-bodied, generous reds; dry whites with rich depth; orange wines whose unfiltered, unfined character gives them a wild edge; sparkling wines of pure flavor; and Chardonnays marked by the scent of the barrel. Around ten Japanese wines selected from all over the country are always in stock, offering a diversity of flavors that differ by region, grape variety, and maker. They also make a fine glass to remember your journey through Japan by.
A bottle you have purchased can be opened and enjoyed on the spot for a corkage fee of 2,200 yen (tax included). Any wine you take a liking to can be bought to take home, as a souvenir or as a gift, and an online shop is available as well.
The food served here is a weekly changing selection of deli dishes brought in from restaurants in the neighborhood. Each is chosen with the pairing in mind, picked as a dish that goes well with a drink.
Part of the fun is being able to taste dishes actually served at the surrounding shops, such as Panini, Penne, Pâté de Campagne, and jerky.
Beyond wine, there are craft beers sourced from around the world along with carefully selected Sake and Whisky, so every visit brings an encounter with a new flavor. The soft drinks are just as well covered, including meticulously made grape juice and fine teas from renowned tea-growing regions.
For those who came with wine in mind and for everyone else alike, another attraction is being able to enjoy all sorts of different glasses to suit the mood and taste of the day.
A three-minute walk from Higashi-Ginza Station, the shop catches the eye with its open, glass-fronted frontage that lets you see inside from the street.
Step inside and you are greeted by LOVOT, the world’s first family-type robot, developed by a Japanese company.
The interior has a calm atmosphere, a warm space that makes the most of the texture of wood. Brick and gray walls provide just the right accent, and the whole room feels comfortable.
Along with six counter seats, there are table seats made from wine barrels as well as simple tables, so it suits a quick glass on your own just as well as a stop with a companion partway through a trip.
Drop in casually and take a breath with a glass of wine in hand. It is a place for enjoying that kind of unpretentious time.
