One of Tokyo's largest leisure zones overlooking Tokyo Bay
After crossing the Rainbow Bridge, Odaiba, known as the major leisure zone in Tokyo, will be right in front of you.
Odaiba is originally built by the Edo Shogunate. During the period of isolation, when Matthew Perry approached the Edo Bay with the famous black ships, turrets and fortresses are built there for defense. Now, it has become one of the most visited tourist destination and a signature landmark of Tokyo. You can see the famous Rainbow Bridge from many directions, but the only place where one can see the two remaining Odaibas is near the Odaiba Seaside Park. For instagrammers and photo lovers, it is recommended to shoot from the bridge between Decks Tokyo Beach and the Park Information Center, where you can get a perfect shot of the beautiful Odaiba view. There is also a jewelry brand inspired object installation “THE KISS” at Aqua City Odaiba, also known as the best photo spot for couples.
Among various leisure facilities in Odaiba, TOYOTA's theme park "MEGA WEB" is recommended for everyone regardless of age, gender, and nationality. There is the Historical Garage where classic cars are displayed in a nostalgic Japanese landscape of the 1960s, the City Showcase where you can get a glimpse of the future vehicles as well as the popular line-up of commercial vehicles. You can also experience the latest safety technology with the safety simulator, and the restoration pit where you can see how old classic cars are being restored. A variety of hands-on entertainment is available free of charge. Test driving on the outdoor test course is also available for 300 yen. There is a cafe that can be enjoyed all day, and a unique souvenir shop where you can purchase rare TOYOTA goods such as mini cars and F1 goods.
As a large coastal subcenter of Tokyo, Odaiba is filled with various facilities such as shopping malls, cinemas, amusement parks, live houses and museums. It can be difficult to visit all of the places in one day. For those who still want to see as many spots as possible in a short time, share cycles that are available for 30 minutes/150 yen is highly recommended. You can easily register with your mobile phone. The most recommended spots in particular is the life size Gundam figure at Diver City Tokyo Plaza, and The Tree of Resonating Colors of Life, a light installation exhibiting at Venusfort produced by Teamlab.
The fountain square at Venus Fort is also a popular photogenic spot for Instagram lovers.
It is fun to sightsee around Odaiba during the day, but the chic and calming atmosphere from evening to night is also very pleasant. At the end of a fun day, why not get on board with your loved ones in the Big Ferris Wheel in Palette Town and enjoy an intimate 16-minute conversation while surrounded by the beautiful Odaiba night view. As Palette Town is located right in front of Yurikamome's Aomi Station and Tokyo Teleport Station on the Rinkai Line, it is safe to enjoy the Ferris wheel until the last boarding at 22:00. As long as time permits, you can enjoy Odaiba to the last minute.
