A Japanese restaurant where one can enjoy authentic Japanese food produced by a master craaftsman
Ginza Okubo' is located just a five minute walk from the center of Ginza. This hidden gem is a place where one can enjoy authentic Japanese food such as Tempura and Sukiyaki. The chef, Mr Okubo is a well reknown chef with plenty of experience in both Japan and overseas: he has been awarded the title of 'top 2000 elite cooks' in the US for his artistry. He is one of few Japanese chefs who are excellent in both name and reality.
At 'Ginza Okubo', one can not only enjoy the taste of the food prepared but the atmosphere and the warm hospitality of the chef's wife also. It's a restaurant which allows you to forget the noise of the busy city, and enjoy the taste of the Japanese food made with carefully selected ingredients.
A must try at 'Ginza Okubo' is the Tempura. The special Tempura dishes served here represent the blend of the chef's expereience overseas as well as his respect of Japanese tradition; a dish we are sure that you have not encountered before. The 'Prawn Tempura' uses an 80g big prawn. One can understand the beauty and artistry of Tempura when trying the freshly fried dish; the Tempura's taste and texture as well as its slight sweetness is only something that can be enjoyed when it is freshly fried.
The 'Shark fin Tempura' is made from shark fin which has been slowly cooked in a broth of chicken, bonito and kelp and then cooled via sous vide, then rested overnight. The shark fin is finally fried as Tempura after undergoing many steps; it is both a texture and flavour in which one can enjoy for the first time and only here at this restaurant. Please enjoy.
Another popular dish on the menu is Sukiyaki, a dish you cannot skip. You can order this dish within the course or by itself. The dish is produced from carefully selected luxurious Sendai beef with whisked egg, sudachi (Japanese citrus), and miso; Okubo style. This flavour can only be explained to those who have tried it. When you visit, please try this dish.
Other dishes that can be enjoyed on the course menu include dishes prepared with only the freshest and most seasonal ingredients. There is also a great selection of alcoholic beverages available for pairing with your meal. The Japanese Sake line up is very vast, and the recommendation is 'Kokuryu'. There are also other rare Japanese sake drinks available.
The atmosphere of 'Ginza Okubo' will allow you to forget the bustle of the city; with its sophisticated counter seats and private booths. There are 8 counter seats and two private booths available, accommodating both small and large groups.
