A famous restaurant where you can encounter the world of creative Japanese gibier
"Izunokura" is conveniently located just a 2-minute walk from Roppongi Station. It is a famous restaurant where you can taste creative gibier cuisine prepared by a chef with a French background. The ingredients used are diverse, ranging from fresh Izu deer and wild boar from the Izu Peninsula, the chef's hometown, to rare game such as badger, nutria, kyon, and raccoon. After opening in Izu Shuzenji in 2017 and then Hakone, the restaurant is now in its third chapter here in Roppongi, Tokyo. Gibier lovers and gibier novices alike are sure to be very satisfied. Why not visit us to enjoy the chef's proven skills and exquisite cuisine?"
A must-try when you come to Izunokura is the 〈Char-grilled Izu venison〉1,700 yen (tax included) 100g. Venison is nutritious and healthy, with low fat, low calories, high protein, and high iron content. You can choose from "thigh" or "back loin". Izu venison used for charcoal grilling is carefully aged for more than three weeks to concentrate the flavor to the limit. The surprisingly tender and savory flavor of the meat is sure to satisfy both gibier novices and gibier lovers. 〈Black rice and red shrimp risotto〉small size 1,000 yen (tax included), medium size 1,800 yen (tax included) is a very popular dish using black rice, a specialty of IzunoKura's birthplace, Shuzenji, Izu City. It has the characteristics of both glutinous rice and brown rice, and is a delightful dish with a sticky, chewy texture. S-size is also available for a pleasant after-meal finish.
"Izunokura's charm lies in its wide variety of gibier dishes. 〈Ostrich Carpaccio〉 1,780 yen (tax included) is a vacuum-cooked ostrich meat, which is almost lean with little fat, softened by vacuum cooking. It is light and healthy, but the more you bite into it, the more flavorful it becomes.
Minced venison and mashed potatoes in gratin style〈Assiette parmentier de venison〉 1,000 yen (tax included) is a dish that should be served with the main meat dish. The cheese-filled mashed potatoes and minced venison meat sauce served with the meat is a true taste of bliss.
Izunokura's desserts are also superb. One of the best is the chef's signature 〈Adult rich bitter pudding〉680 yen (tax included). Enjoy the bitter pudding made with caramel that has been burnt to the last minute and finished with rum for adults. The secret ingredients of salt and sangwon sugar bring out the richness and sweetness of the pudding.
Even those who are not accustomed to eating gibier can enjoy it without hesitation because the chef, who is well versed in the characteristics of the ingredients, uses the best cooking method. We hope you will enjoy this exotic dining experience that can only be found here."
Izunokura is located a two-minute walk from Roppongi Station. The warm colors of the woody interior create a relaxed atmosphere, and the restaurant is equipped with counter seats where you can experience the chef's techniques and tables where you can enjoy conversation while dining at your leisure. Located on the second floor of a building one step off the main street, the restaurant has a quiet and warm atmosphere that makes you forget that you are in the big city of Roppongi, making it perfect for important occasions such as dates and business entertainment. Feel free to dine alone, too, and come and taste the world of gibier, which will surprise and impress you.
