A relaxed Soba shop where both Soba and alcohol can be enjoyed
Located a one minute walk from Yoyogi Uehara station (Exit number 1), 'Soba Uehara' is situated in an area both culturally and artistically diverse. The Soba, made in-store, are coursely fround, finely pounded and chewy, and boast a firm bite paired with a fragrant broth.
Soba is not the only thing one can enjoy in this relaxing space; for those adults that like Soba and drinking at night, there are items such as fried dishes and seasonal dishes that perfectly match with the alcoholic beverages available. Soba paired with Yakitori and Sake is a must try.
Mori Soba' (890 yen, tax included), is made from seasonal ingredients; the best at that specific time. Soba noodles have only the husks carefully removed, coarsely ground and served in thin pieces so as to not damage the fruit. The original aromas and the flavours can be fully enjoyed when the soba is served coarsely, and the simplicity of the dish itself shows off the quality of the ingredients used as well as the skill of the craftsman.
'Ten-Seiro' (1990, tax included) served with fresh prawn, allows for great satisfaction. Tempura fried in top quality seasame oil and Soba served with a rich broth, is a repeater dish for sure.
An array of dishes that can be enjoyed with alcoholic beverages are also available. At 'Soba Uehara', chicken from Fukushima prefectures top brand 'Date Chicken' is used. 'Date chickens'' specialty is in fact the strong Umami flavour and tenderness. Home made Tsukune Skewers (with egg yolk) 490 yen (tax included) is made from scratch at the restuarant; from the mincing of the chicken meat, and can be enjoyed with wither sauce or salt. The aroma of the Tsukune fried with the sauce matches perfectly with the richness of the egg yolk.
If you choose salt to accompany your Tsukune, you will be served with 'Awayuki Salt'; as the name suggests a fresh fluffy feeling will spread through your mouth, like snow. It adds a quality taste to the Tsukune's umami. The 'Fried Soba Mis (490 yen, tax included) is a must try with Japanese Sake. One can enjoy Miso directly broiled, with the texture of the Soba fruit paired with Japanese Sake. The dush and the Japanese Sake compliment eachother well.
The restaurant is located in a building that is directly connected to Yoyogi Uehara station, so moving around on rainy days or with luggage is no hassle. The interior of the shop is one where you can feel the warmth of wood and modern Japanese architecture, as well as soft lighting. One can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere while eating the high quality dishes prepared. The spacious seating arrangements allow for a sense of liberation and is even suited for those entering with children. AT lunchtime, the restaurant is a simple Soba shop, and at night it transforms into an Izakaya where drinks, Soba and other dishes can be enjoyed. Why not spend your time at 'Soba Uehara'?
