Savor authentic, melt-in-your-mouth sakura (horse) meat from Kumamoto in the heart of Ginza

Located in Tokyo’s prestigious Ginza district, home to numerous fine dining establishments, "Bashunro Ginza Main Branch" is a premier restaurant specializing in horse meat dishes. Sourcing fresh horse meat daily from Kumamoto—the birthplace of basashi (horse sashimi)—this renowned spot offers a wide variety of delicacies made with top-quality sakura meat. Its signature dish is the "Sakura Yakiniku Aso Lava Grill," where the meat is seared on a special plate made from lava stone extracted from Mt. Aso, dating back 300,000 years. The result is an intensely flavorful meat with its umami sealed in. In addition to fresh horse sashimi, rare horse liver, and the popular "Sakura Harihari Hotpot" available in course menus, the restaurant provides an extensive lineup that showcases the full appeal of premium horse meat. Horse meat, known for its health and beauty benefits, has long been a beloved part of Japan’s traditional food culture. We invite you to savor the authentic taste to your heart’s content.

  • Popular Standard Course “Hidari-Uma”: ¥9,800 (tax & service charge included) for food only/¥13,300 (tax included) with 2-hour all-you-can-drink

  • Sakura Yakiniku Aso Lava Grill: from ¥7,000

  • Sakura Yakiniku Aso Lava Grill prepared on a special lava stone plate

  • Flavorful Dashi is the Key! Sakura Harihari Hotpot: ¥4,800 per person (tax included)

If you want to fully indulge in horse meat, we recommend the popular standard “Hidari-Uma Course” ¥9,800 (tax and service charge included) for the meal only, or ¥12,800 with a 2-hour all-you-can-drink option. This luxurious course features seven exquisite sakura meat dishes across six categories, including a six-variety fresh horse sashimi platter and braised sakura short rib with seasonal vegetables. For the main dish, you can choose between two options: Sakura Yakiniku Aso Lava Grill or Sakura Harihari Hotpot. If you’re craving the rich umami flavor of horse meat fat, the lava stone-grilled yakiniku is highly recommended, the meat is slowly seared to lock in flavor. If you prefer a tender texture and more delicate aroma, enjoy the hotpot prepared with vegetables. The horse meat dipped in a dashi broth made from horse bones and flying fish is absolutely exceptional.

  • Fresh Horse Sashimi Assortment ¥6,500 (tax included)

  • Rare Horse Liver Sashimi ¥3,800 (tax included)

  • Popular Sakura Yukhoe (Horse Meat Tartare) ¥3,200 (tax included)

  • Varied Sakura Nigiri Chef’s Selection of 5 Pieces ¥3,200 (tax included)

Thanks to the fresh horse meat delivered daily, we highly recommend trying signature dishes such as the Horse Sashimi Assortment (from ¥4,500, tax included) and the Horse Liver Sashimi (¥2,300, tax included). With its exceptional freshness and minimal gaminess, raw horse meat offers an outstanding flavor experience. The rare horse liver, in particular, is one of the most popular items, its uniquely springy texture and rich taste are truly addictive. Other highlights include the Premium Sakura Yukhoe with Avocado (¥2,500, tax included), served with egg for added richness, and the visually striking Sakura Sushi, flavored with a house-made secret sauce. These dishes melt in your mouth and deliver a burst of natural sweetness that keeps guests coming back for more.
