Signature Japanese Dishes Featuring Freshly Made Tofu in Akasaka

Located about a three-minute walk from Akasaka-Mitsuke Station in the heart of the Akasaka area, Akasaka An-an is a modern Japanese izakaya (Japanese-style pub) specializing in tofu dishes and yakitori made with carefully selected domestic chicken.
The restaurant is especially known for its freshly made tofu, prepared in-house every morning, along with aromatic grilled chicken and seasonal Japanese dishes.
Course menus are thoughtfully composed according to the season, allowing guests to fully appreciate the flavors of Japan’s four seasons.
Despite its location in a busy business district, the restaurant maintains a calm and relaxed atmosphere, making it suitable for business entertaining and anniversary dinners.
A wide range of drinks—including sake, shochu, and wine—are available, offering a refined Japanese dining experience with the attentive hospitality characteristic of the Akasaka area.

One of An-an’s most popular options is the Akasaka-Mitsuke Course (for dining gatherings and banquets), priced at ¥3,700 (tax included).
This course begins with appetizers and includes freshly made tofu, sashimi, and Japanese pepper–seasoned grilled chicken, for a total of seven dishes—perfect for casual gatherings with friends or colleagues.

Other choices include the Hitotsugi Course at ¥4,700 (tax included), often recommended for first-time visitors, and the Hie Course at ¥6,700 (tax included), which offers a luxurious selection of both mountain and sea delicacies. Each course incorporates seasonal ingredients and reflects the careful, refined flavors of traditional Japanese cuisine.

With multiple plans available, the restaurant can accommodate a wide range of occasions, including banquets, business dinners, and anniversaries.

  • Freshly made tofu with seven assorted condiments

  • Spiced grilled bone-in chicken with fresh cabbage

  • Fresh sashimi

  • Tofu shop–style yudofu (simmered tofu)

  • Chicken tender skewers with plum and shiso

A signature dish at An-an is the Freshly Made Tofu with Seven Condiments, priced at ¥1,078 (tax included), prepared every morning in-house. Made using nigari (natural mineral coagulant) from Izu Oshima, the tofu has a soft texture and gentle umami flavor.
Paired with various condiments, it offers a range of tastes and is a must-try item.

Another highlight is the Spiced Grilled Bone-in Chicken with Fresh Cabbage at ¥1,078 (tax included), featuring crispy, aromatic skin and juicy meat seasoned with a special spice blend. In addition, the menu includes market-fresh sashimi, charcoal-grilled skewers, and seasonal small dishes.

With its wide variety of Japanese-style offerings, the restaurant is ideal for guests who want to enjoy both hearty dishes and lighter fare, all of which pair exceptionally well with local sake and shochu.

  • Modern Japanese-style entrance

  • Counter seating with a lively atmosphere

  • Relaxing horigotatsu (sunken-floor seating) space

  • Ideal for banquets and group dining

Akasaka An-an features a modern exterior with a distinctly Japanese aesthetic that immediately catches the eye. Despite its central city location in Akasaka, the restaurant offers a calm and welcoming presence.
Inside, the space is unified by a warm wood-based design that creates a comfortable atmosphere.
Counter seating allows solo diners to relax with ease, while table seating and semi-private rooms are well suited for families and groups. The horigotatsu (sunken-floor seating)–style semi-private rooms are especially convenient for banquets where conversation is key.

The restaurant has approximately 63 seats and can accommodate banquets of up to 22 guests. With English menus available and a reputation for friendly service, it is also an easy choice for international visitors. Convenient access and reasonable pricing further enhance its appeal.
