A place to experience the “now” of Hong Kong craft beer, this taproom truly deserves its reputation as Akasaka’s very own “Little Hong Kong.”
Start with Earth People, a Hong Kong–style lager (abv: 4.3% / ibu: 25), and you’ll immediately understand Carbon Brews’ philosophy.
This dry-hopped lager is clean and crisp, with a beautifully balanced combination of malt depth and hop aroma. Compared to mainstream lagers, its recipe is more layered, allowing rich flavors to gently unfold on the palate.
Other highlights include the Yum Cha Pu-erh Lager, inspired by Hong Kong’s morning dim sum culture, where the earthy aroma of pu-erh tea meets refreshing citrus notes. Tropical options brewed with straight (not-from-concentrate) pineapple juice and toasted coconut flakes deliver vibrant, sun-filled aromas.
Uncle Tomato combines bright acidity from green mango and green plum with the gentle umami of tomato juice and ketchup. It can also be enjoyed as a beer cocktail.
With limited-edition beers appearing regularly, the tap list excites seasoned beer enthusiasts while also offering approachable options for those who once thought they “didn’t like beer.”
The pairing of craft beer and Hong Kong cuisine is an essential part of the experience.
The solo drinker’s set—one selected glass of beer plus two snacks for ¥1,980 (tax included)—is a great way to casually enjoy a taste of Little Hong Kong.
Standout dishes include chicken wings fragranced with five-spice powder (a traditional Chinese spice blend) and richly flavored, aged original char siu. Freshly steamed dim sum is perfect both for a light bite and as a companion to beer.
The aromatic Hong Kong street fried noodles, stir-fried over high heat, are especially popular as a satisfying final dish.
Each dish is designed with beer pairing in mind, allowing the beers to reveal different expressions depending on the spices and flavors of the food.
Carbon Brews beers are also available for purchase in-store and online, making them ideal as souvenirs or gifts that let you take the experience home.
Enjoy free-spirited moments in a stylish, welcoming space.
The underground interior is refined yet playful, blending modern design with subtle Hong Kong influences. The space is highly photogenic and inviting, encouraging guests to relax and linger.
Whether stopping by for an after-work drink, taking a break during your travels, or sharing conversations with fellow craft beer lovers, the taproom comfortably adapts to many occasions.
“Go Beyond Beer. Go Beyond Yourself.”
At Carbon Brews Tokyo, enjoy a relaxed and joyful moment in the heart of Akasaka.
